BROADFOOT’S GOOD WIN

PARKER IN POOR TRAINING TITLES NOT INVOLVED (Special to TEE SUNJ PALMERSTON N., Wednesday. After an excellent bout Jim Broadfoot (list 101 b) beat Eddie Parker (12st) in a 15-round bout for a purse of £IOO. Parker’s light heavy and heavy-weight titles were not at stake. Mr. Allan Maxwell was referee and his decision was a very popular one. Broadfoot opened the fight by peppering Parker with rights and lefts to the head, scoring heavily on the breakaways. The Aucklander was aggressive in the second round and won it on a wide margin. There were brisk exchanges in the third, and honours were fairly even in the fourth. The fifth round was won by Parker, who piled up points with lefts to the body. Following solid fighting, Broadfoot won the sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth rounds. The tenth and eleventh rounds were fairly even, but Broadfoot won the twelfth with a fine margin. The thirteenth was even. Parker easily won the fourteenth, during which Broadfoot hung on to avoid trouble. At a very fast clip, the last round was even, the pair standing toe to toe, and exchanging lefts and rights. This exhibition brought the crowd to its feet.

. -Parker was not in the best of condition, as he had not fought for 12 months, but Broadfoot had a welldeserved win.
