Impotence of the Bowlers Is Proved by the Adelaide Game
‘ ‘PL UM” WARNER’S VIEWS
Australian and N.Z. Press Association
Received 1.35 p.m. Hr “Plum" Warner, in the “Morn- « Pott,” says the total scores in ~e cricket match between England md South Australia prove the excelcy of the Adelaide Oval pitch, and 3 e impotence of the bowlers of both Ides, Grimmett being the only one o gain a measure of success. He is glad that six-ball overs will jle in the tests, and wishes it were j universal rule. He writes: “I have not yet met the wwler, either English or Australian,
preferring the eight-ball over. Unless they have altered their opinions recently, leading Australian players are emphatically opposed to it. “The problem of our bowling will take some solving. Tate may make all the difference, but the scoring in the tests will probably be very high. It may turn out the best strategy*to play as many batsmen as possible. “It is satisfactory that both Leyland and Mead came off, as their selection was a target for some criticism.”
