SELF-DENIAL APPEAL
£38,204 RAISED IN DOMINION As the result of the Salvation Army self-denial appeal, £35,204 had been raised throughout the Dominion, was an announcement made at the Congress Hall last evening. Although the sum collected was less than that last year, it was considered most gratifying considering the present state of the country. Of the total £8,450 was collected in the Auckland division, and of this sum £2,431 was obtained in Auckland City, compared with over £3,000 last year. This decrease is attributed to the heavy demands made during the year for the new Congress Hall building. The amounts raised in other centres of the Auckland division were:—Avondale, £129; Cambridge, £400; Dargaville, £115; Devonport, £240; Eden, £391; Edendale, £67; Grey Lynn, £4l; Hamilton, £660; Newton, £431; Newmarket, £500; Onehunga, £371; Opotiki, £277; Otahuhu, £290; Paeroa, £156; Pukekohe, £220; Rotorua, £107; Tauranga, £167; Te Aroha, £323; Te Kuiti, £123; Thames. £279; Waihi, £130; Whangarei, £6OO.
