UP-AND-DOWN LIFE
MR. YARNALL’S HISTORY
“I have had a few ups and downs in my life,” said Mr. J. W. Yarnall, Labour candidate for Parnell, addressing a meeting of electors in the Somervell Hall, Remuera, last evening. The candidate added that such a man was all the more fitted to be in Parliament. Air. Yarnall went on to say that he had once dined with a millionaire who had said he would yield nothing to Labour until forced to do so. He appealed for a strong Labour vote in Parnell because the programme proposed was mild and moderate. It was a party of missionaries who had ideals different from those of the other two parties. Some people did not like the name Labour, but every citizen should be proud to render some useful and efficient service to the community. Replying to questions, the candidate said that personally he was a Prohibitionist. The Bible, he thought, was best taught in the homes, Sunday schools and churches.
