MARSEILLES “LANDRU” ON POINT OF DEATH (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 1.10 p.m. PARIS, Monday. Pierre Rey, the Marseilles “Landru,” will probably not live to stand his trial as the result of his persistent hunger-strike. He is now unable to take even liquid food, and the prison doctors declare that his death is only a question of hours. Rey was arrested at Algiers and brought back to Marseilles on July 4 last in conection with the murders at villas near Marseilles.
