BUFFS’ DANCE AT BIRKENHEAD
BRIGHT EVENT Despite the counter-attractions at Birkenhead, the Buffs’ carnival dance, held in the R.A.0.8. Hall, Mokoia Road, was a great success last Saturday. The music supplied by the Melodian Jazz Band was very much appreciated. Mr. Frank Tothill acted as master of ‘ceremonies. Among those present were: Miss M. McPhail, cream silk, with gold leaf appliques. Miss I. Ward, jade green georgette, with oriental shawl. Miss E. "Ward, frock of black georgette. Miss J. Brain, flanie velvet, with rose shoulder posy. Mrs. W. S. Garrett, pale green crepe de chine, and cream shawl. Miss T. Stinear. white georgette frock. Miss Wheeler, apricot crepe tie chine. Miss D. Chetwynd, white silk crepe skirt and red figured jumper. Miss M. Langley, frock of white spun silk. Miss Anstruther-Brown, ivory ring velvet with flame relief. Miss Doris Davis, floral rae de chine, with diamante. Miss H. Lunny, carnation red georgette and silver relief. Miss Donahue, apricot georgette and silver lace. Miss D. Miles, blush pink georgette, with touches of silver. Mrs. J. C. Alexander, sunset georgette, and fringe shawl to tone. Mrs. Meech, apricot petalled frock and black shawl. Miss Moore (Herne Bay*, gold silk crepe frock. Mrs. F. Burston, black satin inset with cream lace. Mrs. Tothill, gobelin blue georgette and coffee lace. Miss V. Nicholls, frock of mauve crepe de chine. Mrs. G. Sowden, satin and ninon frock, and old gold shawl. Mrs. C- R. Laver, frock of embossed georgette.
