KITCHEN EVENING
FOR BRIDE-ELECT Last evening a very delightful kitchen evening was given in honour of Miss E. Andrews, of Hunua Road, Papakura, who is shortly to be married. The function was given by her aunt, Mrs. F. J. Lound, and Miss A. Swindail, and took place in the Parish Hall, Papakura. The hall was decorated in the form of a cobweb, with red streamers, and a pretty eftect was also achieved with camellias and apple blossoms. Miss Andrews was the recipient of many handsome and useful presents. Several competitions were held. Miss J. Derbyshire winning the drawing competition. Miss Mildred Francis the guessing competition, and Mrs. J. Little the consequences competition. Mrs. Lound was wearing a frock of navy georgette and Mrs. A. Swindail wore a frock of green georgette with appliqued relief. Among those present were: Mrs. J. Andrews, wearing a frock of black crepe de chine. Mrs. Swindail, in navy maroeain. Mrs. W. K. Francis, frock of plum velvet with guipure lace. Mrs. Jas. Little, frock of wistaria silk maroeain, and shawl to tone. Mrs. Bates, black crepe de chine frock. Mrs. J. Tasker, black crepe de chine. Mrs. MofTitt, vieux rose, with repp relief. Mrs. Bartells, frock of vieux rose crepe de chine. Miss M. Andrews, tangerine satin and guipure lace. Miss E. Andrews, black satin frock. Miss R. Arbuckle, purple beaded lace. Miss M. Francis, blue spangled georgette frock, and shawl to tone. Miss B. Cosgrove, green crepe de chine, with silver relief. Miss J. Derbyshire, powder blue satin Cr AUss G. Andreason, canary and blue B. Swindail, frock of grey br Miss e ’H. Swindail, maize crepe de Cb Miss Campbell, rose pink crepe de Ch Miss J. untie, black crepe da chine, with pleated skirt. Miss J. Moffitt, navy crepe de chine. Miss M. WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MEETING AT GLEN AFTON The Glen Afton and Pukemiro Women’s Institute held their monthly meeting recently in the Glen Afton Hall, before a good attendance, considering the wet evening. Mrs. Moloney presided, and business matters occupied the greater part of the evening, a report of the conference being read by the delegates, Mrs. Moloney and Mrs. Troughear. Later Miss Fyle and Miss Sargood gave an interesting demonstration of raffia work, and supper was served by the hostesses, Mrs. Cairns and Mrs. Russell. ■
