STATUS OF HUNTLY
BOARD POSTPONES CHANGE TO BOROUGH (From Our Own Correspondent) HUNTLY, Sunday. I Quite recently the Huntly Town Board members unanimously decided to make Huntly a borough. The necessary preliminaries were carried out. A petition was largely signed, as the whole town considers that the time has arrived when the district should attain the status of a borough. To the surprise of the residents and the petitioners, the Town Board at its last meeting postponed the proposal for 18 months. The chief opposition came from the councillor who proposed that the council proceed with the movement. It is doubtful, however, if the board has any authority, for the residents themselves have already signified their intention of changing the status of Huntly from a town district to a borough.
