RIALTO, AND REGENT, EPSOM
“FOOTLOOSE WIDOWS” Two delightful comedies make up the programme at the Rialto and Regent (Epsom) Theatres this evening. The first is “Footloose Widows,” in which two mannequins, played by Louise Fazenda and Jacqueline Logan, endeavour to secure millionaries for themselves. To do this, the girls pose as wealthy widows. And they are making a go of it. when one of the girls gets her bait and her catch all mixed up. The swift run of events in the land of palms and luxury makes exciting entertainment, full of original gags and gay surprises. Louise Fazenda is the star. But in this picture she is not the Fazenda of the pig-tails and short skirts. She is the super-sophisticated New York specialty shop girl; fashionable from the tips of her highly polished rosetinted nails to her smartly-bobbed, permanently-waved hair. She wears an amazing array of new Paris models in gowns. “The Rush Hour.” the second comedy. stars Marie Prevost as a stowaway. Otis Harlan has been selected to play the role of Captain Andy Hawkes in “Show Boat,” which Universal will put into production this month, with full synchonisation.
