STRAND

“BATTLES OF CORONEL AND FALKLAND ISLANDS”

The epic naval drama of the war, “The Battles of Coronel and Falkland Islands” is now being shown at the Strand Theatre. This picture is undoubtedly the greatest and most thrilling war film made by British producers. The scenes showing the destruction of the various ships are amazingly well constructed, and the film grips from start to finish. “The Battles of Coronel and Falkland Islands” is a great story and makes a film that will honour both Great Britain and Germany, and will thrill all the world. A very effective musical prologue precedes the showing of the film. This is entitled “Leaving Port” and a number of well-known nautical songs are charmingly sung by the Clarion Quartet. Madame Valeska’s Tiny Tot Ballet presents a very clever dance interlude. Eve Bentley’s Strand Symphony Orchestra provides a special programme of well known and favourite British musical gems. A selection from "H.M.S.” Pinafore” is the overture. Another attraction which should prove very popular is the first pictorial representation of the ‘Homes of Our Kings, and Queens. An amusing cartoon and a Strand Magazine are on the programme.
