LOVE C*LL WINS TWO-YEAR-OLD HEAT

HAMILTON, To-day. THE spring carnival of the Waikato Racing Club opened to-day at Te Rapa in fine weather. There was a good attendance, and the track was slightly holding. Results:—

Stormy’s Great Dash Berinthia was' the first to show out, attended by Ripon Abbey, and they led past the stand, followed by Mangani, Master Roley, Gala Day, and Uralla. Ripon Abbey was in charge along the back, from Berinthia, Mangani, Hangawera. and Bourn, and the leader was first to turn for home, his closest attendants being Mangani, Rahepoto, Berinthia, Gala Day, Bourn, and Uralla, with Stormy a long way back. Mangani headed the favourite at the distance,. and went on to win by two lengths from Stormy, who put In a wonderful run from the turn to get second place. Master Roley was a length away third, and then came Rahepoto, Gala Day, Ripon Abbey, Bourn, and Berinthia.

Time, 1.18. - Foreign Fancy Nicely Claremont was. left and Foreign Fancy began smartly and showed the way pa.st the half-mile to Rose Arch, Patere, Kingsland, and The Jack Jumper. Making for the home turn Rose Arch was on terms with Foreign Fancy, Kingsland, Patere, The Jack Jumper, Valda, Becalmed, and Violation. In the run to the post The Jack Jumper threw out a strong challenge to Foreign Fancy, the latter scored by a head, with Becalmed a length away third, followed by Rose Arch, Valroe, Kingsland, Patere and Valda.

Outsiders Dead-heat Black Maire and Red --.ion jumped away together and ied the field for three furlongs by several lengths. Here Glena Bay. Arcade and Ossian closed up, and when the home turn was negotiated Glena Bay had a slight advantage over Red Lion, Black Maire, Arcade, Ossian and Nulli Secundus, with Te Ngeru and Indolent making a run. A great race ensued to the judge, who was unable to separate Te Ngeru and Indolent, with Arcade a neck away third. Then came Black Maire, Ossian, Nulli Secundus and Glena Bay.

Valstreet hit out quickly and led from Love Call, Awamutu gamely challenged, he had no proaching the straight the favourite went to the lead, and although Awamutu gamely challenged, - had no chanco with Love Call, who won nicely by a length. Stirring Finish Transformer was the first to become prominent and led past the stands from Tidal, Catkin, Corinax, Mint Leaf and Valkon. Leaving the straight Papatu went into second place. Transformer still being in front, but a little further on there was a big change, Queen Arch assuming command from Valkon, who went up fast. King Smock, Desert Glow, Corinax and Catkin. Valkon was on terms with Queen Arch at the entrance to the straight, their nearest attendants being Corinax, Desert Glow, Papatu and Mint Leaf. At the distance Corinax put in a claim and in a desperate finish got up to win by a neck from Valkon, who was two and a-half lengths in front of Queen Arch and the favourite. The next to cross the line were Mint Leaf, Desert Glow, Tidal, Te Kara, Papatu, Transformer and King Smock. CLAUDELANDS HIGH-WEIGHT HANDICAP Of £150; 1 mile 4r— SCHORR (B. E.
