FOR PEACE IN INDUSTRY
MONO COMMITTEE SITS UNIONS REPORT PROGRESS Brit is fi Official Wireless Reed. noon. RUGBY, Friday. The joint committee of what is known as the Mond Conference on Industrial Co-operation resumed its meetings yesterday. The trade union members of the conference reported that the action of the General Council of the Trade Union Congress in taking part in the discussions had been fully approved, and that reports on trade union recognition, victimisation, rationalisation, the establishment of a National Industrial Council, and other matters, had been adopted. For carrying out the proposals for a National Industrial Council, and the setting up of machinery for prevention of disputes, the co-operation of the National Confederation of Employers’ Organisations and of the Federation of British Industries is necessary, and these bodies still have the matter under consideration. Pending their decisions, which are expected within the next few weeks, the committee proceeded with other matters on a comprehensive agenda, and it is understood that the unemployment question was considered at some length yesterday.
