CR. MURRAY AGAIN

MORE OUTSIDE INFORMA- . TION A CITY BARGAIN **\ am not prepared to supply information to Cr. W. H. Murray, as it appears to me that Mr. Murray should apply to the council for any information he wants/* read a letter from Mr. J. Kalman to the City Council last evening. The letter advised the council that Mr. Murray, apparently desiring information for himself and for Mr. J. R Lundon, had sought details of a transaction when a car-spraying plant was sold to the council in May last. The Mayor asked Cr. Murray what Information he wanted. Cr. Murray: Has the council any comment? The Mayor: Please answer my question. “I want nothing in particular,” said Cr. Murray. He said the conversation only lasted a minute, and he was surprised that the writer had approached the council on such a casual conversation. “I wonder how he got it into his head that I wanted the information for Mr. Lundon. It seems that if I ask a question of anyone now I want it for other people,” said Cr. Murray. Cr. J. A. C. Allum: No. Only one. "The council has made me seek authority to get information, and I feel that I am quite justified in getting information outside from reliable sources instead of begging for it here.” Cr. Allum said the department made a sporting offer of £ 100 for the plant, and was somewhat surprised to get it, but It was owing to the misfortunes of the owners. The plant was worth £250 and was thoroughly satisfactory. Cr. Allum pointed out that a year ago the Tramway Committee had asked Cr. Murray to seek his information from the committee, and had offered to allow him to interview men if the head of the particular department was present. The Mayor moved that the explanation be accepted and the purchase approved. Cr. Murray again took-exception to having restrictions placed on his infection of the citizens’ property. The motion was adopted.
