“THE DESERT WOMAN” AT EMPIRE
Irene Rich is the star in “The Desert Woman,” to be shown this evening at the Empire Theatre. She is seen as a worn'"' ■who has left the luxurious, shelter life of London society to become the wife of the commandant of an isolated outpost in British India. After three years of desert existence and association with brutalised men, she welcomes a young soldier fresh from home. Her husband is unreasonably jealous and in the process of “making a soldier” of the lad almost kills him, so when her husband has taken the garrison out on one of his raids on hostile natives, she persuades him to leave. The uproarious comedy, “Why Sailors Go Wrong,” the second feature is the story of the adventures of Sammy Cohen and Ted McNamara, on desert island.
