STATE BANK ADVOCATED

LABOUR TALKS TO PAEROA (From Our Own Correspondent) PAJ3ROA, Wednesday. Last evening the official Labour candidate for the Thames electorate, Mr. J. S. Montgomerie, addressed a meeting of electors. The Mayor of Paeroa, Mr. W. Marshall, presided. The candidate, criticising the Reform Party, advocated the establishment of a State bank and the socialisation of insurance. He said the Labour Party would bring forward a sound land policy so that useful settlers would be settled on the land. He maintained that the Reform Government had failed in its land policy. Mr. Montgomerie answered several question and was then accorded a vote of thanks.
