DRAW FOR SATURDAY OPENING NEW GOLF COURSE The Maimgakiekie Goli Club tournament will commence on Saturday at tho Titirangi links. Thi.< will be the first occasion on which the new layout of the course has been used. The president, Mr. G. Lawrence Taylor, will formally declare the new course open before the tournament begins. This will be at $.30 a m. on Saturday morning. at the first toe. Mr. H. W. Cooke, who has supervise*! the new lay-out. will then be asked to drive oil* the first ball over tho new course. This tournament will be unique by reason of the fact that none 01 those taking part, whether members ut the Maungakiekie Club or other clubs, will have played over the tournament course previously. VETERANS’ CUP PLAY AT ROTORUA (Special to THE SUN} ROTORUA, Wednesday. The first annual contest for the New land Golf Veterans’ 50-Guinea a'longe Cup, presented by Mr. F. \V. *Vikie, of Rotorua, will be played at otorua on Saturday, 27th inst. This match is open to New Zealand golfers of 55 years and over. Entries, ss, will bo received by the secretary of the Rotorua Golf Club prior to commencement of the match, which will be played over 36 holes on handicap. It is anticipated that this contest will prove very popular with veteran golfers, and a good response is expected for the first annual contest. The Challenge Cup is to be held for 12 months by the winner, who will also receive a replica valued at 5 guineas.
