Gilt-Edge Stocks Wanted

A SLIGHT reaction from the heavy trading earlier in the week has been shown on ’Change over the past 24 hours by the smaller volume of business put through. Gilt-edge securities are receiving increased attention.
In the banking group k'ew Zeaiands, no doubt influenced by the stronger tone in the Southern market, where sales were put through yesterday at lils 4d, are firmer with sellers at 61s 9d supported by buyers at 61s 3d. Buyers of Queensland Nationals have come in again at £9. Insurances are meeting with a very steady demand. AP-A.’s being the only scrip showing lack of strength. New Zealands have moved to a new recent high level, sales taking place at 45s 6d. In coals. Ri nowps are sought at 15s, with sellers asking 17s. In the shipping group the principal item of interest has been the division
of the P. and O. deferred stock into £ 1 paid units, compared with the old cumbersome unit of £IOO. To-day's middle price at the close was 51s 6d New Zealand Farmers’, of Canterbury, debentures are showing greater activity, sales being recorded at £94 ss.
