The Rev. J. Rossiter left for Wellington last evening by the Limited. Mr. J. McEnnia, Public Works engineer for North Auckland, is staying at the Star Hotel. Mr. W. W. Bird, chief inspector of schools, called upon the meeting of the Auckland Board to-day. Dr C. R. Burns, of Dunedin, has been appointed resident physician of the New Plymouth Hospital. Mr Justice Frazer, of t 1.2 Arbitration Court, has been appointed a temporary judge of the Supreme Court. The Rev. D. Raeburn McDonald, of rievedon has received a unanimous call from St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Palmers top North. —PA. Mr Duncan Macpherson, the wellknown ex-city Presbyterian missioner, is recovering satisfactorily from his recent illness. The Rev. R. B. Gosnell has been appointed chairman of the New Plymouth Hospital Board in succession to the late Mr. Murdoch Fraser. Mr. J. Farrell. Auckland manager for j ■Williamson, Limited, will leave for Wanganui this evening. He will return to Auckland at the end of the month. Mr. H. T. Merritt, chairman of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, who has been visiting Wellington, returned to Auckland by the Limited this morning. Mr. R. Wltheford, registrar of friendly societies and deputy-superin-tendent of the National Provident Fund, is visiting Auckland on departmental business. Captain A. J. L. Naylor, of the New Zealand Shipping Company. Wellington, and Mrs. Naylor, who are motoring through the North Island, arrived in Auckland last evening. Dr. Jellett, of the Department of Health, will visit Auckland on October 2S to address the Auckland Hospital Board on accommodation for maternity cases and the training of midwives. The Hon. J. A. Young. Minister of Health, left Hamilton last evening for a short holiday at Mangowai. North Auckland. He expects to return by Friday night before starting his election campaign. Mr. Robert Parker, for 50 years choirmaster and organist at St. Paul’s Pro-Cathedral, Wellington, celebrated his golden Jubilee last Sunday. A thanksgiving service commemorating the event was held in the cathedral. Mr. J. S. Laing. who has been the Auckland manager of Dominion Motors, Ltd., for the past three and a-half years, is leaving by the Ulimaroa on Friday for Meffciourne, where he will join a new motor and aviation eompany. Mr. Charles A. Scott, South Island manager for the British General Electrio Company, has resigned his position after IS years’ service. He will take up a position of electrical manager for John Burns and Co., Auckland. The death of Mr. F. H. W. Brinsden, a former member of the Auckland Education Board and chairman of the Newton School Committee, was mentioned with regret at the meeting of the board to-day. “He was keenly interested in the cause of education, and he will be a great loss to the community,” said Mr. A.
