NOT EXTREMISTS
CANDIDATE DEFENDS LABOUR Russian Communism is in no wav associated with the New Zealand Labour Party, according to Mr. W. T. Anderton, Labour candidate for Eden, who spoke at the Epsom Library last evening. Mr. T. Bloodworlh presided over about 60 electors. No one, said Mr. Anderton. could honestly label members of the New Zealand Labour Party as extremists. Critics had to go outside New Zealand, even outside th© British Empire, to find something with which to attack the Labour Party. All parties were soundly criticised by Mr. Anderton. The manifesto of the Prime Minister, he said, was largel:/ apologetic. The fact that th© lust New Zealand loan on the London market had been over-subscribed did not mean that the country was in a particularly secure position. He condemned the Government’s attitude toward unemployment and immigration and promised that the unemployment problem would be solved if the Labour Party were returned to power. The candidate was accorded a vote of thanks and confidence.
