Although she is only nine years of age the child had travelled all the way from Papakura, walking part of the way and getting rides from passing vehicles.
She was discovered when she tried to elude the driver of a City Council bus running to New Lynn. On arrival at New Lynn the girl jumped from the bus and ran into a nearby yard. She failed to return with her fare and the driver became suspicious and followed her. The girl’s identification was established and the police -were informed. She has new been returned to her guardian at Papakura.
