REPAIRING QUEEN STREET

£2,600 TO BE SPENT REPAIRS FREE OF COST Workmen employed by the Neuchatel Asphalt Company were engaged in tearing up the surface of Lower Queen Street this morning in preparation for repairing. A sum of £2,600 will be spent on the work this year, and during each of the next two years a similar amount will be spent. The surface will be similar to that recently laid on Grafton Bridge, the provision being that the company must maintain the street free of further charge for the five years following resurfacing. The expenditure is being met out of revenue as the old surfacing loan has not yet been wipefi out.
