Brighter Tone on ’Change
Renowns Improve
THE general feeling on ’Change has improved considerably and many transactions are being recorded. Renown Collieries are still firming and sales have been registered at ' 15s and 15s 3d, leaving firm buyers at 15s.
Considerable attention is being drawn to the banking section and good average business is being written up. Commercial Bank of Australia and Union of Australia are both selling freely. Although little business has been transacted, insurance shares in most cases still maintain high figures. The coal section is active and many sales have been recorded. Hlkurangis (ord.) are selling at 5s 9d. leaving the shares firm; Pukemiros remain steady, while Renowns (ord.) are very firm and selling freely at 15s and las 3d. Taupiris, both ordinary and preference shares, remain steady. There is more inquiry for shipping shares, though little business has been reported. Burns. Philp are selling freely at 44s 3d, leaving a firm market.
Wilsons (N.Z.) Portland Cements are exceedingly firm, buyers quoting 395, no sellers appearing. Waihi shares are maintaining their recent rise and stand firm with buyers 14s, sellers 14s 3d.
