DEVONPORT^ ORPHANS
SUCCESSFUL YEAR The secretary’s report, read at the annual meeting of the Devonpo.rt Orphans’ Club, in the Masonic Hall on Saturday evening, showed that the club had had a successful session. Officers were elected as follow: President, Mr. E. Aldridge; vicepresidents, Bros. J. Pascoe, S. Ken* nings, A. V. Fraer, D. McLeod, and Captain Lacy; committee, Bros. G. Harnett, A. Haugh, E. R. Mouat. M. C. Stapleton, J. Mason, J. O’Brien; conductor of orchestra, Dr. Trevor De Clive Lowe; deputy conductor, Mr. M. D’Auth.reau; secretary, Bro. J. Fletcher; treasurer, Bro. M. Maxwell; chief steward, Bro. R. Morgan; assistant stewards, Bros. N. Fletcher, W. Tonner, W. Crabb, C. Cooper, R. Fletcher; hon. pianist, Mr. C. Moody; programme steward, Bro. IT. Richards; hon. auditor, Bro. D. G. Thornton. The president, Mr. E. Aldridge, complimented the retiring president, Mr. H. S. W. King, on the interest he had taken in the club during his two years’ term of office, and also referred to the useful service he had rendered to the community.
Mr. King thanked Mr. Aldridge for his kind expressions. Items were given by Bros. H. Richards, S. Kennings, J. Fletcher, and Mouat. Bros. C. Moody and King were the accompanists.
