GIRL’S STRANGE DEATH

NC EVIDENCE OF FOUL PLAY FOUND IN QUARRY AT TAMAKI The police have not been able to find cut how Miss Elsie Walker, the 17- \ ar-old girl, who was found dead in an old quarry near Tamaki, reached tlie place where she was found. The girl had left • the home of her relatives, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bayly, i’apamoa, near Te Puke, where she was staying, some days before she was found at Panmure on the evening of Gctober 5. It has been stated that the girl could not drive a car, but marks were found on the soles of the shoes she was wearing to prove that she could. She had also been out driving with her aunt, Mrs. Bayly, and had been seen taking the car in and out of its shed. The abandoned car which was found at Papatoetoe was the property of Mr. Bayly and it is surmised that the girl drove it from Papamoa, though which route she took is not known, as sho travelled at night. The girl had not been interfered with in any way and the police are certain that there has not been any foul play.
