Hugo, inspector of fire brigades, is visiting Auckland. He is staying at the jStur Hotel. Captain Prosser of the Union -Hearn Ship Company, arrived from Wellington by the Limited this morning. Tb<* Rev. J. C. Fussell. vicar of Waiuku. will take up the position ne*t month of vica,r at Holy Trinity Church. Dargaville. Professor Riddet, of the Massey Agricultural College, Palmerston North, who lias been visiting Auckland, went South last evening. Mr. Albert Philps, formerly of Cheltenham. England, arrived-in Auckland this morning by the Rimutaka and will take up his residence here. Mr. H. 11. P. Rallantyne lias been appointed United States consular agent at Christchurch, in place of Mr. U. P. Bridge, who has retired.—P.A. Professor G. fcS. Peren, principal of Massey Agriculture College, Palmerston North, who has been visiting Auckland, returned South on Wednesday. Mr. H. P. Collins has been appointed sanitary and building inspector to the Takapuna Borough Council, filling tho vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr. M. I. England. Mr. H. C. Thomas, manager in New Zealand for Metro-Goldwyn- Mayer Films, Ltd., arrived from Wellington by the Limited this morning and is staying at the Central Hotel. The Rev. J. F. Nuthall, of the dior(;se of Oxford (England), arrived in Auckland on the Rimutaka this morning. He is paying a holiday visit to New Zealand aid will remain for about rive weeks. Mr. E. Wilson, ex-superintendent of various North Island police headquarters, returned from a holiday trip to England by the Rimutaka. Mr. Wilson, who is now an Auckland resident, was accompanied by his wife. Dr. Allan Macdonald, formerly of Auckland, has qualified for a fellowship at the Royal College of Surgeons at Edinburgh. He will take a course in eye, ear. nose and throat work before returning to New Zealand. Brigadier Henry Sharp, of the New Zealand National Headquarters Staff, of the Salvation Army, who has lived in Auckland for the last eight and ahalf years, will be transferred to Wellington next month. Mr. H. T. Merritt, president of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce. .Mr. H. P. Caughey. vice-nresident. Mr. A. M. Seaman and I>r. E. P.
