GARGOYLES’ DANCE

GAY STAFF FUNCTION Last evening the Gargoyle Social Club, otherwise the members of the staff of the Vacuum Oil Company, held a gay little-dance in the Operatic Society’s Hall, which was attractively decked with the übiquitous streamers and balloons. Vocal items were given by Miss E. Vail. Aliss E. Strange, Mrs. R. Bowman, Air. and Mrs. Asquith. A recitation was given by little Aliss Joy Asquith. an<i humour by Air. Mason. A Alonte Carlo dance was won by Aliss L. ~M. Tait and Air. A. F. Sadgrove. Excellent music was provided by Bert Bowman’s orchestra. Committee members present were: Misses C- Ashwin, AI. Hunt, D. R. Chubb, and Alessrs. A. Cameron, L. AlcGregor, J. S. Albon, A. D. Alaxwell, E. AV. Lees Bullot. Among those present were: Ales E A. Sevier, silver and cyclamen lime veiled with cyclamen georgette, shading tu fusehia with fringed skirt. Mrs L. McGregor, powder blue georgette and silver with pink shawl. Strange, stencilled silver tissue and white Spanish shawl. Airs. P. J. Perry, frock ol’ beige georgette. PLUNKET SOCIETY OTAHUHU BRANCH At the annual meeting of the Otahuhu branch of the Plunket Society, the following officers Vvere elected: Patron, Airs. A. E. M. Rhind; president, Airs. A. Alurdoch; secretary, Mrs. Thomas Clements; general committee, Alesdames H. Hall, J. Wallace, R. Wallace, G. V. Pearce, W. Payne, KentJohnson, Baxter, J. E. Gillies, Walters, Boniface, AlcAnulty, AlcCowatt, F. Andrew, J. Alclvor, Saws, Ayers, Flood, Aloffitt, Jamieson, Thorpe, Nixon, Hickson. The annual report stated that 4,374 mothers visited the society’s rooms in Otahuhu, which is over double the number of visits for the previous year. Nurse Ogden had been transferred, and Nurse Levin has been appointed in her stead. A motion of appreciation was accorded to the president, Airs. A. Alurdoch, for the untiring efforts on behalf of the branch. The secretary reported that the sum of £56 8s 5d had been forwarded to headquarters as the result of the children’s annual fancy dress ball. A vote of thanks was accorded to those who had donated prizes in connection with the ball, and also to those who had made their annual donation. ’
