SPIRITUALISTS MUST FIGHT FOR FREEDOM

CONAN DOYLE’S APPEAL “RELIGIOUS PERSECUTION” (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) Reed. 12.56 p.m. LONDON. Wed. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle calls on the 250,000 Spiritualists in England politically to fight for freedom. The law of England denied Spiritualists the right to use mediums, he said. It was a religious persecution. If the Conservatives were unwilling to help, their choice lay between the Liberals and Labour. “We are not going to be despised. Black materialism surrounds us. We must break through. We represent the young hope of the world among all the decaying forms of religion with which we are surrounded. “If it is urged that we are mixing religion with politics, what does it matter Do not the Church of England and the Nonconformists do the same?” Sir Arthur and Lady Conan Doyle sailed to-day for South Africa.
