DOCTOR’S APPOINTMENT
SERVICE IN ROYAL NAVY Dr. J. A. Watson, of St. Stephen’s Avenue, Parnell, has been appointed medical officer to the Auckland division of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve. Coming to New Zealand when H.M.S. Laburnum first left England for the New Zealand station, he served for three years in that ship in various parts of the Pacific. He then returned to London, and retired from the navy to take up special practice. During the war Dr. Watson was sent to Flanders with No. 1 wing of the Royal Naval Air Service. After two years’ service with the R.N.A.S., he returned to the navy, and was transferred to the naval siege guns at Nieuport. Later he served in various ships of the fleet. Dr. Watson still retains his rank of surgeqn-Lieutenant-Commander on the emergency list of the Royal Navy.
