SHEARERS’ WAGES
SLIDING SCALE SUGGESTED CONFERENCE WITH SHEEPOWNERS Press Association WELLINGTON, To-day. The conference between representatives of the Sheepowners’ Association and shearers’ unions has occupied the last two days. No settlement has been reached, but it is hoped that one will be before the conference ends. Employers are proposing that for five years wages and piecework rates bo adjusted on a sliding scale, based on the average wool prices over a period of years.
