FIRE ON LASCELLES ESTATE GREAT INDIGNATION CAUSED (United —By Telegraph — Copyright) Reed. 9.50 a.m. LONDON', Thursday. PORTUMNA Castle, Galway. \he property of Cord Caseelles, was the scene of an incendiary tire early this morning. Civic guards and soldiers rushed to the scene, elaborate arrangements had been made to receive Lord Lascelles and Princess Mary.
A later message says nasty reports of tlie fire have been exaggerated. The outbreak "was confined to the stables and the garage. The damage was £2OO. A search revealed tins of petrol and paraffin. There was indignation in the Free State when incendiarism was confirmed.
Princess Mary and Viscount Las- ! celles will not alter their arrangements to go to Portumna on Satur- | day. 1 They will visit Belfast on Thursday I to fulfil public engagements. In the meantime, they will occupy ; the manager’s house on the Portumna i estate. The castle itself was burnt in | 1921 and was not rebuilt.
