TRIED TO STEAL RUM
SHIP’S FIREMAN FINED Richard Morgan, being a seaman, is naturally fond of rum. He pleaded guilty at the Police Court this afternoon to attempting to steal a bottle of the liquor valued at 6s. Chief-Detective Hammoml said that Morgan, who is a ship’s fireman, aged 20, was caught in a city hotel attempting to take a bottle of rum from a showcase. “He can get away on a boat this afternoon,” Air. Hammond said, “and has never been here before.” Alorgan’s defence was that he had disposed of too many drinks. A fine of £ 1 was imposed.
