THAMES METHODIST CLUB Tho annual meeting of the Thames Methodist Tennis Club was held last evening. The following officers were elected:—-President, Mr. J. Lange; vice-presidents, Messrs. E. N. Miller, J. W. Danby, W. R. Gleeson and F. H. Claxton; club captain, Mr. C. J. Garland; vice-captain, Dr- A. S. Gray; general committee, Mesdames Gibson, Glover, A. Danby, McLeary and Messrs. Warne, McLeary, J. Pratt and A. Danby; social committee, Mesdames Gibson. Bush, Robertshawe, Danby, McLeary, Sowerby, Glover and Miss M. Boyle: secretary and treasurer, Mr. S. Danby; auditor, Mr. V. Rowe; selection committee, captain, vice-captain and secretary; green superintendent, Mr. D. Currie; tournament secretary, Mr. J. Pratt; delegates to Thames Valley Lawn Tennis Association, Dr. Gray, Messrs. Garland, J. Pratt and S. Danby. The subscription was fixed at 30s gentlemen, ladies 255, juniors 25s and 22s 6d respectively. A tournament will be held on Labour Day, October 22.
SO, 83 —246. Miss E. Culling with 86, 84, 84 —254. was next. N. Kelly and Miss N. Allen tied with three down in an aggregate of two round-s on bogey play for the Rattray Cup. At this stage Miss Chrystall had settled down to a much steadier game, and the gallery now numbered several hundreds. Mrs. Williams was cutting most of her shots, and still could no.t master the green. She threw away the fifth after placing her second in an excellent position, but Miss Chrystall put her second into serious trouble at the sixth after Mrs. Williams had done the same, and the difference was 3 again. Mrs. Williams won the shoft seventh with a 20ft. putt for three. The eighth was halved in four.

Papakura Ladies. —Sealed hole competition was won by Mrs. Elliott, the senior eclectic by Miss White, and the junior eclectic by Miss O’Callaghan. The club trophy for the three best scores out of four rounds was won by Mrs. Langford, whose net scores were: 74. 85, 87; total, 246. The L.G.U. bronze medal was won by Miss Rhind. On Saturday, closing day. the usual competitions will be held in the morning, starting at 10 a.m. A match, ladies v. men, will take place during the afternoon. Partners will be arranged at the clubhouse. Te Awamutu Ladies.—Senior championship, first round: Miss Focke defeated Mrs. McDonald, 1 up, and Miss Wallace defeated Miss Quin, 1 up, at the 21st. The following Te Awamutu ladies •will compete at the open championship tournament at Hamilton next week: Misses Wallace, Quin and Focke, Mesdames Olipliant, Chamberlain, O’SulLivan, McDonald and Teasdale. MorrinsviMe.—Championship final: J. I Ensor defeated A. Needham, 4 and 3, after a very even and interesting match. The sem 1 -finalists in the 13 championship are Wyatt, Hart, Johnson and McKay.
WANGANUI TITLE Press Association WANGANUI, Wednesday. The Wanganui open amateur golf championship will commence to-morrow. There are excellent entries. Wanganui will be an applicant for the New Zealand championships next year. HOLED-OUT IN ONE (From Our Own Correspondent) TAIHAPE, Wednesday. While playing golf at the Raukura links during the week-end, J. E. Hamill, at the “Pitch and Toss” holed out in one. The distance is about 140yds. This is the first time the feat has been accomplished at the Taihape links. NO AUSTRALIAN PLAYERS MANY CHAMPIONSHIP ENTRIES Press Association WELLINGTON, To-day. At a meeting of the New Zealand Golf Council, the Otago Club reported that 82 entries had been received for the championships. The council agreed that all should be accepted. The club also stated that a prize of £lO 10s would be given to the professional doing the best single round in the open champonship. No Australian professionals will attend the tournament. Mr. A. D. S. Duncan informed the council there will be great difficulty in getting the teams to come over for the Kirk-W r indeyer Cup, and the feeling in Sydney was that the competition should be made Australia v. New Zealand, or New South W r ales v, New Zealand.
