MRS. RACHEL BARCLAY Mrs. Rachel Barclay, who died at her home, Huia Street. Dovonport, yesterday. at the ago of 73. was the widow of the late Mr. Thomas Henry Barclay. a former mine manager at Thames. She was the second daughter of the late Mr. T. Keven, one of the earliest Auckland pioneers, and wag { born in Shortland StreetAt the time of the gold rush to Thames she went there with her parents, and after living there for years, during which time she was married. she returned to Auckland with her husband, and had since that time lived in Devonport. Mr. Barclay 17 months ago. MISS E. W. I. STOTT (From Our Resident Reporter ) WELLINGTON, To-day. The death of Miss Elizabeth W. I. j Stott, who recently resigned her posi- | lion as matron of the Wellington Hospital, has occurred at Wellington. Miss Stott was trained in St. Barts, | London, gaining her certificate in lS9s». She was at the Royal Institute, Dundee. from 1900 until she resigned to take up private nursing. Coming out to New Zealand, she was appointed matron of a private hospital in Helens- ' ville in 1910, in the following year being admitted as a sister at the Wellington Hospital, where she was appointed matron two years later. Miss Stott was a member of the Society of Chartered Nurses, London. MR. M. R. PARRISH The death occurred at Northcot* yesterday of Mr. Mark Roger Parrish, at the age of 76 years. Mr. Parrish was a very old Northcote identity, and one of the pioneer fruitgrowers in the district. He came out from England in the sailing ship Bevlington over 30 years ago. When he first went to Northcote he had to row across from Auckland with provisions. For many years lie was a member of the Birkenhead Fruitgrowers’ Association. His wife died some time ago, and his sons and daughters are: Mesdames Merrick (Mangere). J. Verran (Birkenhead), K. Henlay (Auckland), Brown (Wanganui), Smith (Tauranga), Miss Parrish (Ponsonby), and Messrs. A. Parrish (Northcote), G. Parrish (Hamilton). and A. Parrish (Remuera).
