Devonport’s Clock.—lt is probable that the Alison Memorial Clock, at Devonport, which is now being erected, will be handed over by the Memorial Committee to the Devonport Borough on Saturday, October 20. A suitable function is to be arranged. Tram Off Rails.—About 11.45 last evening a tram ran off the rails while passing over the points at the corner of Upper Symonds Street and Khyber Pass. All the last outward cars from the city were held up for about 15 minutes until the car could be towed backwards on to the line. School Athletics.—The Thames High School mile championships were run yesterday afternoon on Parawai racecourse, the results being: Rudman Cup (seniors), C. Billings 1, H. Townson 2, C. Lanning 3, S. Goodwin 4. Morrissey Cup (juniors), K. Lawrence 1, T. Majurey 2, K. Snow 3. E. Challis 4. Tram Hold-Up.—About 10.20 last evening a tram from Symonds Street, turning into Upper Queen Street from Karangahape Road, brought down the overhead cable, which sent out snowers of sparks as it fell. Trams were held up for about a-quarter of an hour until a tower-wagon had made temporary repairs. Leg Broken at Play.—While playing in the school grounds at Kaitaia, Lilian, the six-year-old daughter of Mr. H. B. Matthews, fell and broke an arm in two places. Dr. H. G. Rix attended the patient, who was admitted to the Kaitaia Hospital. She is progressing satisfactorily.
