BUILDING TRADITION

TECHNICAL ASSEMBLY HALL OPENING CEREMONY Crowded to capacity by the students and friends, the new assembly hall at the Seddon Memorial Technical College was officially opened last evening by Mr. H. S. W. King, chairman of the Board of Managers. Mr. King said that the college had been working six years to get the hall, which was a necessity for the building up of school tradition. It had not been possible to get a grant from the Education Department to put the work in hand, and it was only the generous bequests of the late Mr. W. J. Binns and the late Mr. R. Hindley that made the building possible. During the opening ceremony Mr. E. James, president of the Past Students’ Association, unveiled a tablet to the memory of the two benefactors. Speeches congratulating the college on the advance made were given by Sir George Fowlds and Mr. W. J. Holdswortli.
