WAR DEBTS A CLOSED QUESTION
COOLIDGE AND POINCARE (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian and N.Z. Press Associationf (United Service) Reed. 1.30 p.m. WASHINGTON, Tues. President Coolidge looks upon M. Poincare’s suggestion on Sunday that the Allied evacuation of the Rhineland, and final settlement of reparations be connected with war-debt payments to the United States as tending to have the American taxpayer pay for German reparations. He regards the question of war debts to the United States, virtually all of which have been settled, as closed. He looks with great disfavour upon all moves to connect the problem with other European affairs.
