Brain and Hands

Danger of Forcing Left-Handed Child DIAGONAL CONTROL (United Service) Reed. 10 a.m. LONDON, Monday. It is dangerous to force a naturally left-handed child to become righthanded, according to Mr. IT. Rumsej, a Guy’s Hospital expert, because it overloads the left side of the brain. He says that the brain controls the hands diagonally; also the left side of the brain controls the speech. Nature makes some children lefthanded to give the speech centre extra room. Sometimes left-handed children, when forced to be right-handed, develop stammering, which ceases when they are allowed to follow their instinct.
