HEALING BY THOUGHT
CHRISTIAN SCIENCE PRINCIPLES MR. W. S. BOOTH’S LECTURE “Christian Science declares that sickness is not a condition of matter and proves this declaration by healing or destroying the disease by correcting the wrong thought or false belief of which the disease is an indication or manifestation,” said Mr. W. Stuart Booth, of Denver, Colorado, when lecturing in the Town Hall Concert Chamber last evening. Mr. Booth, who is a member of the board of lectureship of the mother church in Boston, is lecturing in Auckland under the auspices of the First Church of Christ, Scientist. “This is based on the reasoning that. God is the Father and Creator of all things that are real and true,” he said. “Christian Science deduces the fact that sickness, not being from God, is an error of human belief which cannot be ignored, but must be considered and dealt with from the standpoint of God. The speaker said that Christian Science asserted that Christianity is not merely an avowed belief, but a science, based on Divine principle and law. Therefore Christian Scientists have set before themselves the definite pronouncement that they cannot properly call themselves Christian unless their understanding of Christ’s teachings stands the test of healing and reforming, which was so definitely laid down by Christ Jesus as the test of Christianity.
