BODY IDENTIFIED
(From Yesterday’s late Edition)
FOUND IN THE HARBOUR Found drowned was the verdict of the coroner, Mr. F. K. Hunt, at the inquest held yesterday on the death of Malcolm McKenzie, a seaman aged 25, who disappeared on the evening of August 2. A body found floating in the harbour by Constable Hannah on September 22 was believed to be that of the missing seaman and evidence called at the inquest confirmed this. John Macmillan, cousin of the deceased, said that he had been with McKenzie on the evening of his disappearance. They had disposed of a few drinks but were both quite sober when they parted, at a-quarter to ten. John Macdonald and Norman Macdonald, shipmates of McKenzie on the Paheka, identified the clothing taken from the floating body. James Patrick Sampson also identified cleaners marks on the suit. “The gangway was down that night and there was a net rigged beneath it,** said George Feslie Almond, third officer of the Pakeha.
