FRANKLIN ASSOCIATION At the third annual meeting of the Franklin Lawn Tennis Association, the president, Mr. A. Park Horne, stated that 16 clubs, comprising 502 members, were affiliated to the association. The A grade competition was won by the Pukekohe Club, which thus received the Park Horne Shield. The B grade competition was won by the Waiuku Club, which thus won the Moore-Schlaepfer Trophy for the season. The financial statement showed a credit balance of £2B. The election of oificers resulted: Patron, Mr. Horne; president, Mr. R. Glasgow; secretary, Mr. R. N. Johnson; management committee, Messrs. Glasgow, Johnson and P. A. Hillary: delegates to Auckland Tennis Association, Messrs. Glasgow, W. Richards and Hillary; umpire selector, Mr. M. S. Campbell; zone selectors, Messrs. C. Morrin, E. R. Matusclika and Hillary; auditor, Mr. R. Phillips. It was decided this season to conduct A grade and B grade competitions, but in addition to constitute another grade for the four best clubs. The first Saturday in November was agreed to as the date for starting the competitions.
It was decided that a club team should comprise four ladies and four men in the A grade, six men and six ladies in the B grade, and three men and three ladies in the special grade.
FRANKLIN ASSOCIATION SUCCESSFUL YEAR REVIEWED (From Our Own Correspondent) PUKEKOHE, Friday. Delegates present at the annual meeting of the Franklin Lawn Tennis Association held at Buckland last evening were:—Messrs. M. Cruickshank, Tuakau Domain; F. A. Hillary and A. A. Boyd; R. J. Glasgow and It. N. Johnson, Onewhero; Major S. C. Schofield and W. Bilkey, Buckland; Major J. A. Somerville and C. Morrin, Pukekohe; R. Perkins and G. Wright, St. James; W. J. A. Moore, Pukekohe Hill; R. Fulton, Mauku; W. D. Teesdale and S. C. Shaw, Bombay. The Waiuku, Patumahoe, Aka Aka, West End, Pukekohe East and Pokeno Clubs were not represented. Mr. A. Park Horne presided. The report stated that a highly successful year had been concluded with a credit balance of £22 16s Id. Fifteen clubs were affiliated, the membership totalling 560 for seniors and 75 juniors. Officers elected were;—Patron, Mr. A. Park Horne; president, Mr. R. J. Glasgow; vice-presidents, Major S. C. Schofield, Messrs. "W. J. A. Moore and L. J. Bayly; secretary, Mr. R. N. Johnson; auditor, Mr. R. Phillips; trustees, Messrs. Park Horne and Johnson; delegates to Auckland Association, Messrs. R. J. Glasgow, P. A. Hillary and W. E. Richards; management committee, Messrs Glasgow, Johnson and Hillary; chief selector, Mr. M. S. Campbell; zone selectors, Messrs. C. Morrin, E. R. Matusehka and P. A. Hillary. It was agreed to conduct the A and B grade zone competitions as hitherto, and to institute a separate zone for advanced players in the larger clubs. The Otaua Club was granted affiliation and given permission to enter a B grade team in the competitions.
It was decided to strongly oppose the proposed increase in fees of country clubs and sub-associations to the Auckland Association.
