CAUSE OF DERAILMENT
OFFICIAL INQUIRY OPENED
Bast evening an official inquiry was opened at Palmerston North into the cause of the derailment of several trucks of a goods train on Thursday evening near Palmerston North. It was at first reported that a broken axle was the cause of the mishap, but this apparently is not correct. To-morrow a breakdown gang will remove the wrecked trucks to the workshops at Petone.
