DEBATE AT UNIVERSITY
TEAM FROM SYDNEY VARSITY A debate will be held at the University College Hall this evening between a team of students from Sydney University and a team representing Auckland University. The subject is "That the emergence ‘of woman from the home is a depressing feature of modern life.” The debate is open to the public. CLICK CLACK CABARET The Click Clack Cabaret will be the scene of another gay party to-morrow evening, when the usual Saturday carnival will be held. Dancing will continue from 8 p.m. to midnight. An afternoon tea dance will be held as usual on Saturday afternoon.
The announcement that Sam Taylor is to direct the new curl-less Mary Pickford in her first grown-up. romantic screen role is a particularly significant one to the film fan who follows his directors as well as his stars. Taylor directed Miss Piekford’s lasit production, "My Best Girl,” which is considered one of the most popular and successful pictures she has ever made.
