BIG BENEFIT CONCERT
AIDING G. F. CATER’S WIDOW Most of Auckland's prominent musicians and entertainers assisted at the benefit concert given in the Town Hall last evening for Mrs. G. F. Cater, widow of Mr. G. F. Cater, a wellknown Auckland musician. There was a large audience and a satisfactory sum. will be raised as a result of the effort. The combined orchestras of the Savage and Orphans' Club, under Mr. Harold Baxter, played several excellent selections. The band of the Jubilee Institute for the Blind also played a march composed by the late Mr. Cater. ' Songs were given by Miss Mina Caldow. Miss Alma McGruer, Miss Beryl Smith, ■ Sergt.-Major Hallahan, and Messrs. F. Baker, R. Dormer, E. Mannail, A. Ripley, Duncan Black, S. Pritchard arid Walter Brough. Other items were contributed by Mr. Alan McElwain, Messrs. Len Wilson and H. N. Miller, Mr. G. Poore, Mr. T. T. Garland and Mr. T. Harris. The Clarion Quartet and the Lyric Quartet also helped in the entertainment.
