HARD HITTERS

MONSON V. McINNES MONDAY’S BIG FIGHT The Ted Monson—Tommy Mclnnes fight in the Town Hall on Monday evening should prove a worthy successor to the fight last month between Lachie McDonald and Mclnnes. On that occasion a packed house saw a fight which made up for any disappointments in the past—fighting all the way—and Monday evening’s bout looks on paper to be very much the same. Mclnnes is now well known in Auckland as a strong, courageous fighter, and many consider him unlucky in not getting the verdict against McDonald . Whichever man won, there were two in it all the way, Mclnnes proving that he was one of the best boxers seen in Auckland for a long time. REPUTATION TO UPHOLD Monson, on the other hand, has not yet been seen in action in Auckland, but he comes from Australia with a great reputation for hard two-handed fighting and boxing ability above the ordinary. He has been seen in good gymnasium work-outs and, sls he is stated to be a far better worker in the ring than in the gym., prospects look bright for a great fight on Monday. A purse of £2OO will be in dispute, the limit purse allowed by the Xew Zealand Association.

In addition, a good amateur programme has been arranged, with a number of new candidates for fistic honours engaged.
