OTAHUHU HOLY TRINITY I CLUB GIVES DANCE. | • 1. IN FANCY DRESS The public hall at Otaliuliu was piettily decorated with a canopy of multi-coloured streamers on Tuesday evening, when the Otahuhu Holy Trinity Social Club held its annual plain and fancy dress dance. There was a large attendance of members and their friends, who spent a very happy events to the strains of Mrs. Andrews’s orchestra. Mr. H. Lovell was master of ceremonies. Mr. J. C. I*. Paine, president of the club, wel-
comed the visitors. The arduous task of judging the many beautiful and quaint dresses was carried out by Mesdames I-loward. A. I>. Jameson, and Mrs. Currie. For the non-dancers a very enjoyable progressive 500 tournament was held, and after some very keen competition the trophies were awarded to Mrs. Speed, J : Mrs. Wood, consolation; Mr. Whitmore. 1: Mr. Haslip, consolation. The awards for the fancy costumes were as follow: Most original women’s. Miss Kitto, as a house to let: men’s. a Y» as Impudence and Dignity: best fancy costume—women’s, Miss B. Walker, as a butterfly; men’s, Mr. Hall, as a Spaniard. A couple of special prizes were awarded to Messrs. Douglas and Faithful as the Bing Boys. The Rev. C. B. W. Seton presented the trophies to the successful competitors, and congratulated the winners on their splendid efforts, and thanked the udges for their services. Among those in fancy dress were: Miss Kitto, as a house to let; Miss F. Davis, advertising shops in Otahuhu; Miss Maude Jefferies, black and white Pierrette; Miss Edna Jenkins, Eastern costume; Miss D. Logan, Pierrette; Miss M. Pinkey, fishergirl; Miss G. Moller, Shakesperean character: Miss L. Riddell, Chinese lady; Miss M. Greenwood, Queen of Sheba; Miss K. Boswell, green and black pierrette; Miss V. Baker, as orange and purple Pierrette; Mrs. T. W. Day, Egyptian costume; Miss P. Walker, gipsy; Mr. H. Lovell, house for sale; Mr. Hail. Spaniard: Mr. Day, Impudence and Dignity; Miss B. Walker, butterfly; Messrs. Faithful and Douglas, the Bing Boys. Others present included: Mrs. J. A. Paine, pretty frock of amethyst panne velvet. Mrs. G. Banks, black satin beaute, and shawl.
