GERMANS BITTER
RHINELAND AGREEMENT GOVERNMENT ASSAILED (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) (United Service) BERLIN, Monday. The agreement which resulted from the Rhineland conversations at Geneva is described by the Nationalist newspapers under the captions: “The Geneva Fiasco” and “Germany Sold Again.” The Democrat and Republican press and politicians do not conceal their disappointment at what they term the meagre outcome of the conversations. Generally, they say, the discussions have not brought the evacuation of the Rhineland a step nearer. On the contrary, they say, they have shown that the Allies are not disposed to acknowledge Germany’s claim for complete evacuation as a sequel to the Locarno and Kellogg pacts. It is still felt that the French and German points of view are diametrically opposed. The Nationalist paper Deutsche Zeitung demands the resignation of the Government for the failure of the Chancellor, Dr. Mueller, to obtain the slightest concession.
