Smith, of Christchurch, arrived In Auckland this morning by the Limited. The Hon. S. Hickey and Mrs. Hickey visitors from Australia, are visiting Kotorua. The Hon. Vernon Reed, M.L.C., left for Wellington by the Limited last evening. Dr. F. A. Morton has resigned from the honorary anaesthetical staff of the Auckland Hospital. Lord Lovat, British Lender-Secretary j for the Dominions, will sail from Vanrouver for New Zealand on Friday. Archbishop Averill, Primate of New Z. aland, who lias been visiting Wellington. returned by the - Limited this morning. Mr. A. D. F. Sampson, superintendent of the Newmarket Railway Workshops, returned this morning from a visit to Wellington. Mr. Warwick Braithwaite, of Dunedin. has been appointed conductor 6f the National Welsh Symphony Orchestra at Cardiff. Mr. Neil Ewart, chief clerk to the chief mechanical engineer. New Zealand Railways, arrived from Wellington by the Limited this morning. Mr. D. Ardell, of the Internal Affairs Department, arrived from Wellington yesterday on business connected with the visit of the airmen to Auckland. He is staying at the Grand Hotel. Mr. Cecil Marks, of Sydney, special representative for United Artists’ Films, arrived from Wellington this morning. He was accompanied by Mr. W. R. Smith, New Zealand manager. Mr. Raynor White, F.L.C.M., the music master of Wanganui College, has been appointed adjudicator in the vocal and instrumental sections at the next competitions of the Burns Society at Wanganui. Mr. C. J. Ronaldson, manager of the Christchurch Branch of the National Bank, retires on pension in December. Mr. Ronaldson joined the bank’s service 50 years ago at Tokomariro. He will be succeeded in the managership of the Christchurch branch by the as-sistant-manager, Mr. J. S. Middleton. The resignation of Miss Ada Taylor, lady superintendent of the Auckland Hospital was received at yesterday’s meeting of the hospital board, and various speakers expressed regret that the institution was to lose the services of so valuable and popular an officer.
