CENTRAL THEATRE, PAPATOETOE
“SOMETHING ALWAYS HAPPENS” Mysterious happenings in a haunted house is £jae theme of “Something Always Happens.” which will be shown this evening at the Central Theatre, Papatoetoe. The story is of a mystery, enlivened by farcical and mysterious situations, and distinctly different from anything the popular star, Miss Esther Ralston, has done before. The plot centres about a young American girl, as jazz-mad as the rest of the modern fair sex, who becomes engaged to a young Englishman. In England she tires of the cut-and-dried existence and wants something to happen to her. Something does happen and action comes in abundant quantities. She becomes embroiled in a hunt for a notorious Chinese bandit, ChangTzo, played by Sojin, the Oriental star, and gets mixed up with a bandit gang. An excellent supporting programme will also be shown. “WINGS” AT BRITANNIA “Wings,” the mighty air epic, will be shown this evening at the Britannia Theatre. “Wings” tells a story of young aviators, their gallant deeds of daring, their sacrifices and their romances. It is a picture that every critic who has been has praised unreservedly. Besides the pathetic and romantic beauty of the story, and the immensity of the aerial battles, “Wings” has a peculiar attraction for everyone. The thrills and sensations that have hitherto been the experience of few have come at last to the many. When a plane swoops down at mighty speed, only the pilot, or may be his companion. too, if he has one, gets the exhilarating thrill of the speed of the machine.
Clara Bow, Richard Arlen and Charles Rogers head the huge cast. The second half of the programme will be devoted to celebritv vaudeville. Rose and Kay, the cheery chatterboxes, will appear. A grand competition will also be held to find the best song and dance act, for which the audience will be the judges.
