RELIEF-WORKER INJURED

HIT BY FLYING DEBRIS GELIGNITE EXPLODES TOO SOON (From Our Own Correspondent) KAIKOHE, To-day. A blasting accident occured yesterday at the relief work on the Kaikohe-Waimatemri Road, when a Maori, Wi Dick, was badly cut and bruised by the debris from a discharge of gelignite. The injured man was one o£ a party engaged in widening the roadway in rock, necessitating the use of explosives. A hole had been charged, and the warning given for the men to take refuge, when the change exploded before Dick reached a place of safety, and was severely cut by the flying rock. He was conveyed to the Rawene Hospital.
