CLUBS’ ANNUAL MEETINGS

The following lawn tennis clubs have held annual meetings in preparation for the opening of the season: Patumahoe.—Mr. W. E. Johns presided. The financial statement presented by the secretary, Mr. J. Membery, showed a credit balance of £7 9s lid. The election of officers resulted: Patrons, Messrs. E. D. McLennan, M.P., R. S. Brown, and A. Parris; president. Mr. C. Goldsworthy; vice-presidents, Mrs. Parris and Mr. A. C. Baigent; secretary and treasurer, Mr. Membej*y; executive committee, Mesdaraes Bathurst and Reynolds, Miss Urquhart, Messrs. L. Syme, and R. Brady. Waitoa.—Mr. W. Hallett presided. The election of officers resulted: President, Mr. W. Hallett; vice-presidents, Messrs. C. Luxton, W. Wood, W. S. Goosman, McLaren, and H. Kinneburgh; secretary and treasurer, Mr. J. Bigwood; committee, Mesdames R. D. Johnston, Hallett, McLaren, C. J. Luxton, and Messrs. S. Hyde, H. Cook, W. H. Hallett, and N. Donovan; club captain, Mr. R. D. Johnston; vice-captain, Mr. N. Donovan; selectors, captain, vice-captain, and secretary; handicappers, Messrs. R. D. Johnston and M. Donovan, and Mesdames Luxton and Colson. It was decided to open the season on September 29, on the completion of improvements to the club’s courts.

Turua.—The following officers were elected: Patron, Mr. S. S. Murray; president, Mr. A. H. Rogers; secretarv, Mr. F. H. M. Shepherd; treasurer, Mr. F. C. Robinson; committee. Misses K. Mulles, Dixon, J. Madgwick, Messrs. T. Miller* A McConnell, R. Madgwick. Te Aroha. —Dr. W. R. Lawrence presided. The finances of the club were in a healthy condition, the* profit on last season’s working amounting to £6O. The new courts at Herriesville, on which the North Island championships were played, had cost £632. The club had raised a sum of £441 for various works during the past two years. The following officers were elected: Patron, Mr. R. L. Somers: president. Dr. W. L. Laurence; vice-presidents, Messrs. Mackie. Coulter, and Magill; captain, Mr. L. C. Mackie; secretary and treasurer, Mr. H. A. Bradley; committee, Mrs. Mackie, Misses Noake, Hedge, and Robinson. Messrs. Merrington, Crompton, Wright, and Morrison: auditor, Mr. G. A. Bush. Hapai.—lt was unanimously resolved to continue the club under the auspices of the Hauraki Plains Lawn Tennis Association.

The following officers were elected: President, Mr. A. R. Vowles; vicepresiderft, Mr. L. M. Murray; secretary, Mr. W. Murphs” match committee, Messrs. Vowles, Murray, and Murphy; delegate to the Hauraki Plains Tennis Association, Mr. A. R. Vowles. Ngatea The president, Mr. C. Bertelesen, reported that extensive improvements to the club's courts would be completed prior to the official opening on November 13.

The meeting appointed the following officers: Patron. Mrs. E. L. Walton; president, Mr. C. Bertelesen: vice-president, Mr. H. Dent; secretary, Mr. A. E. Laudlow; treasurer, Mr. E. A. Mahoney: auditor, Mr. C. S. Foster; committee, Messrs. E. R. Alexander. K Clare,, R. C. Abel, E. Simpson. Mesdames Reed and Bertelesen. Misses Rountree and Paul: delegate to Hauraki Plains Association, Mr. E. A Mahoney: club captain. Mr. E. Coppins. Onewhero Opens The Onewhero Tennis Club held the official opening of its courts this season on Saturday. Welcoming the visitors, the president, Mr. R. McKibbon, expressed pleasure that the club was being accorded splendid support by the residents of the district. The club was doing its part in improving the recreation ground, having spent now £4OO in laying the four courts and erecting the pavilion.
